Indian Journal of Ecocriticism (IJE), the official, peer-reviewed journal of OSLE-India (Organisation for Studies in Literature and Environment-India), will be published annually. Since OSLE-India understands ecocriticism as the application of ecological or deep ecological concepts to cultural texts, and seeks to promote ecocriticism rather than nature writing or environmental studies, submissions for IJE should show evidence of the application of ecological or deep ecological concepts to the subject of study.

However, it is the author of a particular essay who is responsible for the views expressed in her/his essay, and not the administrative body of the journal or OSLE-India.

Guidelines for Submissions for IJE:
Manuscripts should be submitted in A4 size, single-sided, double-spaced typescript, addressed to The Editor. Manuscripts submitted for publication must be previously unpublished and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Each submission must:

• Be completely proofread
• Conform strictly to the latest MLA style manual
• Be typed in MS WORD format and 12 point font size
• Not exceed 2,500 words in length
• Be accompanied by a declaration to the effect that it is an original, unpublished research essay

A paper should be submitted to the IJE via email to osleindiajournal@gmail.com with a covering letter describing the submission. At a minimum, this letter should provide:

• 1. The author's contact address and email id
• 2. An abstract not more than 150 words

In addition to the email submission, three hard copies of the typescript must be submitted. This is to facilitate reviewing. The first page of the top copy alone should include the title, author's name and institutional affiliation and an abstract of not more than 100 words in length. The last page of the top copy alone should include the author's name, position, affiliation and contact information (postal address, telephone numbers and e-mail). The other two copies should be copied on both sides of the page.

The Reviewing Process

Each paper submitted is initially reviewed for general suitability for publication. If considered suitable, it is then subjected to a blind peer review. Final decisions regarding publication will be made by the Editorial board. The Manuscript deadline for the IJE 2008 issue is January 15, 2008.
